Brainstorming (Stand Back & Beware)

I've been racking my brain for weeks trying to figure out how to repurpose something I already have into this blanket I'm making for the batting.  Batting seems to be expensive and I'm out of Christmas money (or don't have enough anyway.)

What I have, a lot of old pillows (a.k.a fluff) and a lot of pillowcases and a lot of yarn blankets.

Thoughts...

Yarn blankets as batting?  Might make for a crazy heavy blanket that is hard to sew through.

Pillowcases stuffed with pillow fluff and sewn shut, possibly not so bad.

Insanity?  Probably.

I'm going to investigate the pillowcase thing I think, cause I think yarn is too chunky.

Big Squares = Fast

So I learned some things today.  Sashing is the white sections between the colored sections I think.  Basting is putting the back, middle and top of the quilt together.   And this quilt looks like it was done with large fabric sections which would make it super duper fast to make.
